I have seen this show probably 5 times. The anticipation of knowing what to expect had me buzzing. It didn’t disappoint. One of the most exciting dance shows ever. This performance was incredible.

All the original music has been changed

Let me start by saying that this is still an incredible show however if you’ve already watched the original, you’ll be left sorely disappointed that the original music score has been changed. Other than the opening piccolo / flute of the pixie and the famous Lord of the Dance finale, all the other music has been changed, for the worse. I’d take both my daughters to watch this as I’d take. Them many years ago when they were at school. I’d also taken my nine year old granddaughter and it was her first time. The choreography and talent of the dancers is as good as when we originally watched Michael Flatley but the disappointment in realising that all the music that we know so well has been changed completely is huge. If you’ve not seen this production before then go and see it as it’s spectacular, if, like me, you have seen it before then be warned, all your favourite music has gone including the gypsy music. It’s like watching a completely different production.

The “Lord of the Dance” lacked stage presence. The girls were too flirty and flighty and not disciplined enough to be Irish dancers, it was more like interpretive dance. They had the same choreography but the wrong music, the only familiar bit being the title song which does not have Hardiman’s rights preventing them from using it. The singer was a glorified cruise singer at best and was literally a floor-filler until the next bit. No fluidity. The story was still there but lacked the power and passion from the original. The sound quality in the theatre was poor so that probably didn’t help in delivering a show stopping performance. The fiddlers were good and the male dancers were good when the music wasn’t there to ruin it but Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance it is NOT. I wouldn’t want my name attached to it. Expectations were high as Riverdance 25 was excellent but this was a wish.com version and I would t waste my money.
